AC/DC: BON SCOTT's Birthday Celebration To Take Place In His Australian Hometown

May 19, 2006

AC/DC fan site AC/DC Highway to Hell has issued the following update:

"9th July 2006 is [what would have been] Bon's [Scott, late AC/DC frontman] 60th birthday, so to commemorate this special day a gig has been organized in his home town and resting place Fremantle, Western Australia. On Friday, 7th July 2006 at Metropolises night club [in] Fremantle there will be THREE tributes played to Bon. First will be HELLS BELLS, a powerful and dynamic salute to post-Bon ScottAC/DC, featuring most of the songs from the 'Back in Black' album plus a few classics. Then COASTAL SCOTTISH PIPE BAND WA will perform a spine-tingling tribute to Bon's time in that very band, and finish with a 'Absolute Salute Tribute to Bon Scott' drum solo, this is performed with 10 drummers paradiddling their hearts out. And the final [performers] of the night will be 21 GUNS. 21 GUNS are the ultimate tribute to AC/DC Bon Scott era. Consisting of ex-members of RIFF RAFF and a couple of new 'young guns', 21 GUNS will provide a non-stop, two-hour tribute to the greatest rock' n 'roll singer ever, Bon Scott! If you caught Bon's 25th anniversary commemoration at the Leopold last year, you'll know what to expect! RIFF RAFF broke all previous attendance records at that venue. Cost and times will be notified at a date closer to the event."

Regarding the planned life-sized statue of Bon Scott which is slated to be erected in Fremantle, a posting on the site reads, "Things are ticking along slowly but still moving forward. . . There is a lot of bureaucratic B.S. and red tape to go through, but patience is a virtue."
